RISING STARS IN THE NEXT MUSICAL GENERATION

Continuing Friends of Music’s commitment to showcase young musicians with professional polish begun in the 2015-2016 concert season, FOM has partnered with the Fred Fox School of Music at the University of Arizona to bring unusually talented undergraduates to the St. Philip’s stage for our 2017 Lenten Series. This commitment is echoed in our tag line:
Feel the Past. Hear the Present. See the Future. St. Philip’s and FOM are pleased to present these young musicians with an early opportunity to display their abilities in a professional setting.

Julia Gundacker, a senior at the University of Arizona Fred Fox School of Music, studies flute performance under Brian Luce. She has performed in several ensembles, including the Arizona Symphony Orchestra, The University of Arizona Wind Ensemble, the University of Arizona Philharmonic, and Chamber Winds. She volunteers as an instructor for the UA Outreach Honor Band. Julia was runner-up in the President’s Concerto Competition, and won first prize in the Prescott Center for the Arts Competition and second place in the Prescott Symphony Guild Competition. She played in the International Lyric Academy Orchestra in the cities of Viterbo, Soriano nel Cimino, and Tarquinia, Italy. Julia plans to attend graduate school and plans one day to play in a professional orchestra.
